you can, begin it.  Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.”

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How does online counseling work?

Just like you would walk into an office, pay for your services, and see your counselor, you will do the same at BlueFlame.
You will be provided a link to your own HIPPA compliant, safe, and secure online meeting room where you can access a live and scheduled video conference with your counselor. You will be able to hear and see each other in real time just like you would in a traditional office setting — only now you can have that experience in your own home, private office, by the beach, or anywhere in the world you choose!

Where do I have to live to access BlueFlame’s services?

Tamera is licensed in the states of New Mexico and Texas and can see any client who is a resident of either state. All other providers are limited to seeing Texas residents only. Unfortunately, at this time, counselors anywhere in the country are only able to see clients within the state in which they are licensed. If you live in a state other than Texas or New Mexico make sure you look for a well-qualified licensed professional within your own state.

What should I expect from the counseling process?

Therapy is meant to be an active, honest, and collaborative partnership that allows you to reach new heights in their journey toward being their best selves! The counselors role is to facilitate, support, and enhance a client’s creative process so that they can find solutions to their problems, develop positive and forward thinking, incorporate healthy
life habits, and discover that they already have inside them everything they need to succeed.

How long are psychotherapy sessions?

Individual, Family, and Couples sessions are generally 45-50 minutes in length and groups can run 50-120 minutes depending on the group content and format.

How much will therapy cost?

Cash pay pricing: Initial Intake sessions are between $130 - $150 depending on your provider and their level of experience, expertise or areas of specialization. Follow-up individual sessions are $130 - $150 per 45-50 minute session, couple and family sessions are $130 -$150 per 45-50 minute session, and group sessions are $30 - $60.

Insurance pricing depends on your insurance benefits, whether we accept your plan, and your deductible/out-of-pocket cost. Please contact your insurance to determine what your out-of-pocket cost will be for therapy sessions, how many sessions you are allowed, and whether or not out-of-network services are covered if we are not in-network with your plan.

What are your hours of operation?

Each providers schedule varies daily. All clients are seen by appointment only. We do offer appointments 7 days a week including after school, evening, and Saturday/Sunday appointments.

Do you accept insurance?

We are a primarily cash pay practice. However, we currently accept some BCBS, Aetna, and United Healthcare PPO plans. Please call to verify if we accept your plan prior to scheduling your first appointment. If we do not accept your insurance and you would still like to use it, your plan may cover out of network services. A super bill will be available to you to use for reimbursement with your insurance.

Often, insurance companies will collect information for their future use — information which may or may not be relevant to your work with our providers. Working independently on a direct-pay basis allows your counselor to use his or her professional judgment to best serve you in a way that is not dictated or regulated by an insurance company. Furthermore, insurance companies require the use of a diagnosis which often sticks with you for the rest of your life, which can be detrimental in certain situations. In essence, your private business becomes the business of your insurance provider. In addition, this decreases the time and paperwork requirements for the practice which keeps service fee’s lower and appointment times longer.

Is online counseling safe?

BlueFlame Psychotherapy Services utilizes a HIPPA compliant software and office management service that provides a safe and secure server that guarantees your privacy and confidentiality. All document sharing, storing, and messaging is also done through this service to ensure your confidentiality.

How often will I need to be seen?

Typically, new clients are seen on a weekly basis so that the therapist can get to know you and develop a plan to help you reach your goals as quickly and efficiently as possible.

How long will I need to be in therapy?

Each client and their situation is unique. Therefore, it is difficult to determine the amount of time you will need to reach your goals. Depending on need you may do well with short term care or require a more long-term care plan. However, sessions are generally reduced in frequency over time.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. BlueFlame does not have any psychiatrists on staff. However, we work closely with a Board Certified Adult and Child Psychiatrist Dr. Shama Rasheed who is located within our office suite.
